INTERNATIONAL TOAST:
Rotary Club of KO Chang in D33400 Ko Chang, Thailand.  The club was chartered in 2013 with 39 members who meet Wednesdays at 1.00pm in Grand Orchid Resort.   President is Mookdar Charuen Prasit.

  • April statement presented and movement for the month is $688.00.
  • Anzac Day BBQ takings to be split between us and Chats.
  • Path of memories sign is faded and graffitied. Take to the Board to remove the sign, repaint and re-attach. To be passed through Council.
  • Meals on Wheels Roster – 3 vacancies for June, July and August.

  • Thank you to Scott for organising Anzac Day BBQ
  • Next bunnings BBQ 6 June
  • Rotary Club of Adelaide dinner June 3rd - register asap if interested in going.

  • Gary and Ros to discuss NRM Bob photo shoot with RCWL branding and QR code

  • District asked if RCWL to be part of the sponsor programme for Rotary Youth Exchange. Robin to follow up.
  • Science & Engineering Challenge requires support, Rotary Club of Adelaide in August. Refer folder.

  • Nominations out for RYDA.
FUNDRAISING: (Gary)
  • Eyre Bee n Bee hotel sample made by Gary.
  • BBQ trailer – costs for new trailer to be made @ $15,000. Gary to look at getting ballpark figure on getting existing trailer modified.
VOCATION & ENVIRONMENT: (Alison)
  • 8 July - Team building day at De Garis’ to paint Eyre Bee n Bee hotels 
  • 17 June – DIK stripping of commodes from 9.00 – 12.00.  Meet for lunch at Slug & Lettuce at 12.30
  • 15 July Monarto Zoo fence painting – do we invite Murray Bridge and Mobilong to help again?

GUEST SPEAKER - AVEO RETIREMENT LIVING
Kerry (Sales Manager) & Kirsty (retirement Centre Manager) briefed members on the activities of Aveo.
Aveo is the largest organisation of its type in Australia, with over 90 communities, 15 of which are in Adelaide.
With the backing of Brookfield Asset Management, Aveo provides a solid base for retirement living.
K&K outlined the three types of contracts that enable options for managing capital outlay.
 
RCWL are invited to visit one or more of the Aveo centres, if we get 15 or more to attend, then Aveo will donate $500 to our Club!

Gourmet Gary’s Cashew Rum Balls

Serves: 18
Prep Time: 45 min 
Cook Time: n/a 
 
Ingredients

3 tbsp

Honey

250 gms

Cashew paste

100 gms

Pitted dates roughly chopped

1 tbsp

Arrowroot

3 tbsp

Unsweetened cocoa

80 mls

Rum

 

Coconut, cocoa or chocolate logs for coating.

Directions:

1. Place all ingredients except coating ingredients in blender and process until smooth. 

2. Refrigerate for about 1 hour then form into balls 1 1/2 cm diameter, rolling in your hands. 

3. Roll in your choice of dipping ingredients or a mix off and store in refrigerator till ready to serve.
