Received email from RC Regency Park looking for donations to go towards their Hope for Homes project in Cambodia – it costs $16,000 to build a home, and they are one third towards that goal – a group of members will travel to Cambodia to undertake the build – Club to consider.

Container has arrived in Manila, and still in Customs. Meeting with Filipino Customs on Monday 3 Nov revealed a few things to be addressed. Seems that they are having issues with the FDA regulations and will need to negotiate with the district director of customs on Monday.
- Consignee Document requires a name Change to the district instead of the local club - this has been passed on to RARE to address.
- Rotary Philippines needs to get clearance/certificatiom from DOH/FDA addressed to customs so they would clear the regulated items such as, children toys and medical equipments
These things are all addressable and will be actioned appropriately. Some disappointment in the delay however we will take the positive attitude that we are doing good in the world.
Planned timetable, now changing, was to be as follows:

Andrew responded on behalf of the Club to the City of Charles Sturt, receiving a positive response.
"Thank you so much for the letter and your kind offer of funding support.
I will now prepare the report to council’s Strategy & Engagement Committee (17 Nov) and will ask council consider the projects in 26/27, or sooner if resources permit."
In late September I wrote to you requesting support for a house building project initiated by our member Mark Carter and supported by the Rotary Club of Regency Park.
In late January 2026 the team from several Rotary Clubs and friends will travel to Siem Reap, Cambodia to assist with the construction of a house for a poor local family.
This project has been running through a local NGO in Siem Reap for several years and has built approximately 50 homes so far.
I am writing to confirm that this is an official project of the Rotary Club of Regency Park and that its Board has agreed that the Club will help fund the project.
The cost of the building is $16,000 of which we have fundraised about one third so far.
This amount has to be paid for the purchase of materials and pre-arrival work by the middle of December at the latest.
If your club can help financially, we would very much appreciate your support.
If you would like Mark to visit your club to give an overview of the project, please let us know.
Last week, our team purchased another 200 Tonne of Hay from a Local S.A. farmer ‘Mitolo Family Farms’ … renowned for their potato crops.
We believe this to be the first significant Hay harvest for 2025 in S.A. This particular farm, by some fluke earlier in the year, just managed to get a batch of rain to enable them to get a crop in the ground and growing.
Mitolo’s team were actually surprised. They thought they’d get only 200 Tonne – but ended up with 500 Tonne!
On top of the 200 Tonne we’ve purchased (so far), they’ve also DONATED a full truck load to us. Lovely community / corporate spirit.
OF NOTE – Our partners at Farmers Relief Agency are still talking to farmers in the Riverland, Murraylands and Murray Mallee in particular, who have had less than one inch of rain. Horrific conditions, with ongoing desperate need to keep their animals alive.
Rotary’s drought relief work is NOT finished.
So our Fodder to Farms project continues with MUCH need. Certainly, some areas are starting to become self sufficient again, which is great news. But we can’t take the foot of the Tractor’s Gas Pedal!
Our RAWCS Donation form continues to collect donations which is great ( https://donations.rawcs.com.au/42-2024-25 ) – but we are trying to get the wider public to understand that the green fields surrounding Adelaide do not extend into many regions of the state and to encourage them to continue to donate to support us. We’d love to secure that extra 300 Tonne.
GOOD NEWS STORY 2
I recently received a phone call from a lady at Kilikanoon winery in the Clare Valley.
Kilikanoon and 6 other wineries recently bumped into our Rotary Drought Relief project and were so inspired, they banded together to coordinate a Raffle to raise some funds for us … of which, 100% of proceeds will come to Rotary and our SA Fodder for Farms project. It’s a quick reaction raffle – drawn on 1st November.
This has been a lovely, building relationship, that has actually gone beyond just this raffle … more about that later … But today – PLEASE – click on this link and have a look at the raffle they’ve put together for us.
I would LOVE it if you could share this with all of your members and encourage them to buy at least ONE ticket in their raffle ( https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1479546 ) to demonstrate our gratitude for the immense effort they’ve put in so far. The speaker system operates on both battery or power.
Prior to meeting, plug in the charger with the connection point being in front of the speaker box. Once fully charged (blue light), the charger can be removed (or left in place).
NOTE: Ensure that Power is plugged in to the actual Power inlet on the speaker and not the Microphone inlet
Three microphones are all battery operated. There are ‘some’ spare batteries in our lectern. Microphones operate on a simple On/Off and are already paired to the system.
The speaker box has a Master Volume knob as well as a Microphone Volume knob. These should not need adjustment unless circumstances have changed. Test inside meeting room.
At end of meeting please carefully check all items, and put safely back in lectern.
Liaise with the Guest Speaker Coordinator to meet and greet Guest Speaker, arrange for introduction, introduce to other members
- Arrange meal for Guest speaker, cost to the RCWL account (so that Steve can pay later on)
