We have a date for Tennyson Dunes Open Day – Sunday October 19, which we have been invited to do a BBQ again.
Have asked Brian White to check if there are any further blanket bags at the dry cleaner’s ready for the next rolling date July 29th.
Has been suggested CHATS might not need any blankets at the present so looking for other locations to give these to.
Work is progressing on the “Gerry Ancone” award in conjunction with Tonsley Tafe.
New date for the last three bags to roll for the Blanket Revolution 29 July @530pm before the start of our Rotary meeting.

A memorable evening at our Club’s Changeover Dinner tonight. We celebrated the leadership of President Scott, who handed over the reins with grace and gratitude. We thank him for his service and vision.
We warmly welcomed our new President Robin, who shared his inspiring personal philosophy - ‘Don’t just give a man a fish… teach him how to fish.’ A powerful reminder that true service is about empowering others for sustainable growth and resilience.
President Robin’s theme for 2025–2026 is “Tangible Results,” emphasizing the importance of reflective action and meaningful outcomes, especially through impactful international projects. We are excited for the year ahead and the positive change that lies ahead.
Another highlight of the evening was honouring several of our outstanding members with Paul Harris Fellow awards in recognition of their unwavering service to the community. Their dedication exemplifies the spirit of Rotary and inspires us all to reach higher and serve deeper.
Cheers to new beginnings, enduring values, and a united spirit of service.
Volunteers are the heart of our community and we are always proud to celebrate the incredible efforts of local volunteers who make the western suburbs such a vibrant and caring place to live. This week, our Club’s very own Barry Dixon was honoured with a Local Legend Award as part of the annual Mark Butler Volunteer Awards. A well-deserved recognition for his outstanding, long-term contribution to our community.
Congratulations Barry! Your dedication and service truly embody the spirit of Rotary and the power of volunteering.
Barry has been a member of the RC West Lakes for almost 29 years since joined in 1996 when he and his wife Pam moved back to Adelaide. He had previously been a member of other service clubs, while he lived in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. Consequently, he enthusiastically participated in Rotary projects to assist people in need of help, both locally and around the world. Those activities included a wide range of tasks from working-bees to local BBQ sizzles through to major fund raising for major overseas developments. He also helps out with the Cafe Car at the National Railway Museum as well as raising money for Rotary's End Polio project.
Barry is always ready to assist with difficult tasks and totally reliable when he makes a promise to be there to help, not even letting a serious fall recently stop him from helping out at the Bunnings BBQ. He takes a serious interest in the welfare of other people, whether they are his close friends or those in need living in the community. He consistently takes the time to contact friends and fellow club members when they are sick and will visit if they are indisposed in hospital.
As a former President (among his many other positions held) of the Rotary Club of West Lakes, Barry's knowledge and willingness to provide support and advice is directly responsible for the success of many projects, the latest being a current project sending a container of medical and training supplies to be utilised in the Philippines.
He is genuinely liked by all of his acquaintances because of his friendly and welcoming manner, and for almost three decades has proven a reliable and indefatigable member of the Rotary Club of West Lakes. His resilience, knowledge, and can-do attitude would make him a worthy recipient of the Local Legend award.
Work has been continuing on gathering items to fill the container with the Playground (from Pt Lincoln) and other items to send to the:
Rotary Club of Plaridel Polaris, Bulacan, Philippines
This includes paperwork to ensure that:
- there will be no taxes applied on entry to the Philippines
- the local Club has their act together
- RAWCS requirements are met
There is some work required to pack the container so that there is no spare space...please refer to schedule below and make yourself available to assist.

PE Robin has agreed to be the conduit to save our files & memories into the Cloud. As part of our MicroSoft subscription we have a 1 terabyte (TB) cloud storage plan. 1 TB is a lot of data
[1,024 gigabytes (GB) or 1,099,511,627,776 bytes, whatever they are].
The Board are the guinea pigs, and have received a link to gain access to the New RCWL Storage Filing System.
They will commence “Moving” any files on personal computers to the RCWL system.
It is important that the main filing storage is on the Cloud as personal PC can fail. It is also important that Club Documents and Photos are not ‘lost’
Attached is a current screen shot of the filing system so far.
It is possible to add appropriate directories as needed. For example, if you have files that are to be determined later, they can be saved (Under your name) in the Directory “To Be Sorted”. Other Photos and Documents can be stored in the appropriate directory.
Robin envisages that documents currently in ClubRunner can be transferred to the new system. This is a medium-term goal.
All members are encouraged to gather any Files or Photos on to a USB and bring in to each meeting so that they can be uploaded to the storage system.
This will be a great benefit for our Club moving forward and will also assist the 50 year committee research.
If you are unsure how to put your files on a USB please see Robin, (or perhaps a grandchild).
After the electronic files are collected we will then discuss gathering Old physical Documents and photos and how to convert them to electronic storage.
Please remember, (to facilitate return of your USB), bring your files in on Tuesday night with your name attached to the USB
Robin is available to assist anyone who may have data/files that need to be transferred.
