INTERNATIONAL TOAST:
Rotary Club of Iqaluit – Cavo Greco in D7040 Nunavut Territory, Canada.  The club was chartered in 1978 with 16 members who meet Wednesdays at 12noon in Quiet lounge, Royal Canadian Legion.

  • Cheques written for $500 to Heart Kids Foundation and Peter Nelson Leukemia foundation.
  • Cheque $500 given to DIK. 
  • Received invoice from Peace Poles Australia for $214.50 and will be paid tomorrow.

  • IFCR Australia holding a National Cricket Festival in Adelaide, Glenelg between 15 – 20 October.
Brian Thomas to send invite to attend our meeting on 17 October.
  • Thank you to Murray Chrystal for making the Rotary Wheel and BBQ trays at no charge. Send thank you letter from the Club.
  • Rosie has drafted an invitation to changeover dinner 27 June,

FUNDRAISING: (Gary)
  • Anzac Day BBQ Semaphore RSL. Opening at 5.30 and volunteers by 6.00am and cooking by 6.45.
  • 1 May – Bunnings BBQ (first Monday of each month i.e. 5 June, 3 July)
VOCATION & ENVIRONMENT: (Alison)
  • Team building day at DeGaris’ to make Eyre Bee n Bee hotels TBC for schools and Early Childhood. Alison to find out who has Alexander Kitchen Gardens.
  • Need to source bamboo re specific sizing.
  • 15 July Monarto Zoo fence painting.
  • Rotary International Convention in May and 3 representatives attending.
  • DIK – David on sick leave for 6-8 weeks, Derrick in charge.

Gourmet Gary’s Flambe’ (singing) Bananas
Blowfly Corner
 
Serves: 4
Prep Time: 20 min 
Cook Time: 40 min 
 
Ingredients

4

Bananas peeled and halved

175 gms

Butter

½ cup

Caster sugar

1 cup

Orange juice

2 tbsp

Lemon juice

½ cup

Dark rum

Directions:

1. Melt 1/4 of the butter in a heavy based frying pan and cook the bananas until slightly brown then set aside.

2. Melt the remaining butter in the pan and add the sugar, cooking until it begins to caramelize.

3. Add the rum and when hot set alight with a long match, then add the juices and cook until liquid is reduced to 1/3. 

4. Place bananas back in sauce to reheat and serve on crepes with whipped vanilla cream.

NOTE-----------Serve at a dinner party and you may find out why I call them singing bananas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jane was a member of the Adelaide Rotaract Club in the 1970's, so she has a basic understanding of what Rotary is about.
She lives locally and has already participated in a number of volunteering activities, including Semaphore Carousel, NRM Bill's birthday BBQ and NRM Bub's birthday Cafe Car
