BBQ at Bunnings continuing with first Monday of each month
We have been advised, effective 1 February, the price of canned drinks and bottled water at our Australian sausage sizzles will increase from $1.50 to $2.00. The price of a sausage in bread will remain at $3.50 (with or without onions).
We have been allocated Sat 23 March as well
Might have to think about working with other groups so we can provide a full team?

$5,000 Club donation made to RARE (DIK) for their Philippines project.
Derek Burcham (RARE) has acknowledged, container scheduled to leave early March and arrive early May.
He will be available to come and talk about the project.

Suggest that the Club sends a formal acknowledgement.

RC Charles Sturt Grange
On Monday 19th February, RC Charles Sturt Grange has a guest speaker attending from the Stroke Foundation.
An invitation has been extended to our club to attend their meeting on that evening. Can you please mark in the folder whether you are interested in attending.
Come hear a local young lady who has studied her craft in South Australia and after working overseas and has now returned to Adelaide to begin a successful local business.
The breakfast is to be held in The Top Room of the Arkaba hotel, which has recently been renovated.
There is a large free car park next to the hotel and so access is very easy.

As a follow on from our recent Club sponsorship of an Outbound Student (Abby O'Brien, now in Italy), we have been asked to consider sponsorship of a reciprocal Inbound Youth Exchange Student.
There is an indication that an Inbound Student could be arriving in Late August 2024.
Given that this can be considered a significant Club Project, our Youth Director Robin will be speaking to this Potential Sponsorship.
Sponsoring an Inbound Student comes with responsibilities and a total club commitment.
Should our club commit to moving forward on the proposal the following are some key points to consider:
Two club positions required: Youth Exchange Officer & Club Counsellor
Club Responsibilities: Arrange (3 or 4) Host Families, (not necessarily Rotarians).
Arrange a variety of administrative schooling requirements.
Costs: Hosting a Rotary Youth Exchange student is considered a Club project and therefore all costs to the Club are project costs.
Costs can include Allowance (minimum of $150/mth), Dinner Fees, Training Weekends, School Fees, Uniforms etc.
Adherence with Rotary RYE “rules”.
From our decision to host until the student completes their exchange with our Club there may be a period of 15 or more months.
The exchange commitment covers more than one Rotary year.

Steph Frick, Community Relations and Eduction coordinator for SA Water took us through the activities that SA Water undertake to provide us with safe, reliable supply of water.
The Rotary Club of Somerton Park (RCSP) has organized a monthly coffee get together with our club, members from other clubs from Area 7 and members of the Unley club.
The first was held on Monday 4th December at RCSP Rotary Shed and was well attended by 17 Rotarians from Somerton Park, Unley, McLaren Vale and Holdfast Bay.
Given its success, RCSP will continue the catch up on a regular basis, on the First Monday of the month (note these are our Bunnings BBQ days as well).
Additionally, Somerton Park is a breakfast club. As we don't get much time to socialise, chat and come up with new ideas, this is a good opportunity to do just that over a cup of coffee and biscuits (provided by Somerton Park).
An invitation has been extended to come along to the next one: 10 AM on 5thFebruary 2024 at RC Somerton Park Club rooms, Brighton Oval, Hove SA 5048.
Best route to get here is from Stopford Road, and car park entrance will be on your right. The club shed is on your left.
