Completed the final 5 bags of blankets from last year’s collection.
- Pet bags going to the Greyhound Rescue and to Vets on Hart St via Yvonne , and Semaphore Road thanks to Alison.
- We still have 5 boxes suitable for humans to pass along. Awaiting an answer from Rosie in regards to CHATS.
Vocational—Gerard Ancone award date set for 28 April, The Education Minister has accepted Denis' invitation to attend.

Container project
Some good news, Customs issues have been cleared.
Outstanding container wharf fees are under negotiation.
Once negotiations are finalised, we expect the container to be retrieved and goods distributed. Stay tuned…
Club historical records – 3 Large white folders of historical records have been scanned and saved to the cloud.
All members are encouraged to bring in any historical items that can be scanned and saved for posterity.

In August last year our Club sponsored two students to attend the Rotary Youth Program of ENrichment (RYPEN).
This is a program designed for 14-17 year olds - see below.
Our two applicants were:
- Abby O'Brien from St Mary's College, and
- Ronan Cros from LeFevre High School.
On Tuesday night both students addressed the Club on their experiences. Rather than a shared presentation, each spoke individually.
Ronan gave a detailed account of the 3 day program, backing up with his insight. Although his French accent was at times difficult to follow, he did have copies of his talk on each slide. He was particularly thankful of the discussions and skills relating to leadership, and would recommend to any student who has aspirations in that area.
Abby's presentation was less "engineering" based like Ronan's, and more people focused. She had just a couple of slides and talked to the photos. She enjoyed meeting/working with new people and developing new skills.
Both were thankful of the support from our Club and would definitely recommend to other students.
The Rotary Club of West Lakes is particularly proud to have been able to sponsor Abby, and Ronan to attend RYPEN. The program will be available again in 2026 (see below), and we would again be pleased to entertain applications from interested students.
This year's RYPEN Seminar (Adelaide Metro) will be: Friday 3 – Sunday 5 July 2026
RYPEN accepts registrations from participants, if you will have had your 14th birthday and have not yet had your 18th birthday at the commencement of the Seminar on Friday 3 July 2026.

After recovering from the Christmas breakup on Tuesday 16 December, we fronted to Bunnings for a Saturday BBQ.
"Wow, what a perfect day – we didn’t have to set up or take down the BBQ (this is now a Bunnings role), all we had to do is cook, serve, and clean up at the end !!
I say 'all we had to…', but, we were busy most of the day, and had a fantastic result.
Gross sales $3,431, net profit $2.657….."

Plan was to work from 11am through to 10pm (1100-2200).
The Saturday afternoon sessions were helped somewhat by Latter Day Saints volunteers, although Ros had to go down and train/put them through the fast pace of Carousel life.
And a mixup that evening when the Operator after the greasing (we didn't know about that either) didn't turn up. Unfortunately Scott and Brian J had a bit of a wait.
Sunday looked to be busy, and went according to plan. Sort of, until 9pm when the Operator closed up shop (that's what his roster said). Frank turned up and questioned why the shut down. By then it was too late, but Ros and Andrew got an early "minute".
So about 40 hours of volunteering for the weekend!

All in all, another great fundraising event, Bunnings gave us a few free coffee vouchers to get us going in the morning..
Our website address which was through a third party has been taken over by an unknown entity. We no longer have access, so you would have seen corrupted links.
Robin is chasing this down and is likely to get a new domain name that will be managed through ClubRunner. This new domain name will be slightly different to the old one.
Therefore the existing QR code will NO LONGER WORK.
Once this is sorted we will generate a new QR code. This will entail some minor expenses to change our advertising feathers and some signs.

The speaker system operates on both battery or power.
Prior to meeting, plug in the charger with the connection point being in front of the speaker box. Once fully charged (blue light), the charger can be removed (or left in place).
NOTE: Ensure that Power is plugged in to the actual Power inlet on the speaker and not the Microphone inlet
Three microphones are all battery operated. There are ‘some’ spare batteries in our lectern. Microphones operate on a simple On/Off and are already paired to the system.
The speaker box has a Master Volume knob as well as a Microphone Volume knob. These should not need adjustment unless circumstances have changed. Test inside meeting room.
At end of meeting please carefully check all items, and put safely back in lectern.
Liaise with the Guest Speaker Coordinator to meet and greet Guest Speaker, arrange for introduction, introduce to other members
- Arrange meal for Guest speaker, cost to the RCWL account (so that Steve can pay later on)
