50 year celebration
On Sunday we celebrated 50 wonderful years of the Rotary Club of West Lakes.

It was a special afternoon filled with memories, laughter and connection as past and present members and friends came together to reflect on the many highlights of our Club over the decades.
Old friends reunited, stories were shared, and we were delighted to have two of our founding members (Alan Broadbent & Eric Ciracovitch OAM) present to celebrate this milestone with us.

We heard a few words from:
  • District Governor Rajeev Kamineni;
  • Deputy Mayor of the City of Charles Sturt, Katriona Kinsella; and
  • President of Semaphore Surf Life Saving Club, Damien Puyenbroek.

All reflected on RCWL's work and wished us continued success in serving our community.

Guests enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea and birthday cake, while browsing through displays of Club memorabilia that showcased the history and spirit of Rotary at West Lakes.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this incredible milestone.

Many thanks to past member Alan Raggatt whose generous $200 donation enabled a couple of door prizes, won by past member John Phillips, and AdBri sponsor rep Peter Baker (Brian White's son in law)!

Here’s to the friendships, service and community spirit that have shaped the past 50 years…and many more to come.

Just to recall

Decision

RCWL provide funding to enable:
1. gazebo/shade/seating

to review

2. water fountain.

Note from Council

"Please find attached a draft concept plan outlining the proposed improvements currently planned for next year. The concept considers access to the playground and potential impacts on underground services.

Council is currently preparing its 2026/27 budget, so the project has not yet been formally endorsed and the design is subject to change. "

They have been provided to us for comment.

RCWL QR codes
Our website address which was through a third party has been taken over by an unknown entity. We no longer have access, so you would have seen corrupted links.

Robin has chased this down and we have a new domain name that will be managed through ClubRunner. This new domain name will be slightly different to the old one (no "club of").

We now have a new QR code, differentiated by circles on the corner

Please note the new web address.

microphone, is now in our lectern!
The speaker system operates on both battery or power.
Prior to meeting, plug in the charger with the connection point being in front of the speaker box. Once fully charged (blue light), the charger can be removed (or left in place).
NOTE: Ensure that Power is plugged in to the actual Power inlet on the speaker and not the Microphone inlet

Three microphones are all battery operated. There are ‘some’ spare batteries in our lectern. Microphones operate on a simple On/Off and are already paired to the system.

The speaker box has a Master Volume knob as well as a Microphone Volume knob. These should not need adjustment unless circumstances have changed. Test inside meeting room.

At end of meeting please carefully check all items, and put safely back in lectern.

Liaise with the Guest Speaker Coordinator to meet and greet Guest Speaker, arrange for introduction, introduce to other members
- Arrange meal for Guest speaker, cost to the RCWL account (so that Steve can pay later on)

Chair meeting
- manage timeliness
- organise meal delivery

Arrange Sergeant At Arms (as appropriate)

Liaise with President to close meeting.
