  • Books received from the Auditor – all good no issues.
  • Rotary has changed banks and now deals with Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank (HSBC).
  • Lemons available – take some.
Community: (Ros)
  • Next Carousel is 13/14 August.
  • NRM – 22/23/24 July – need volunteers
  • Club Runner is ‘up and running’.
  • Community Committee meeting will follow after dinner meeting.
International & Foundation (Ken)
  • Nothing to report.
Youth (Robin)
  • Nothing to report.
Fundraising: (Jean)  
  • Fundraising will now be part of the Community Committee.
Vocational and Environment (Alison)
  • National Tree Day on 31st July.  Would members accept a tray of seedlings to take home and plant them [members present agreed]
OTHER BUSINESS:
Guest Speakers and Functions (Neil)
  • Xmas in July on 26th July at Gepps Cross Hotel.  Minimum of 36 people attending to keep price at $40/head.
  • Looking for Guest Speakers.  Sometimes need to book several months ahead.
  • 2nd August – Joint Club meeting with RC Henley Beach and RC Charles Sturt Grange.
  • Sam Jacobs – ex Crows player, will be guest speaker on 8th November.
PP Andrew:
Several RCWL members attended District Changeover.  ‘Interesting Day’ – speeches, tea, speeches, people restless.
 
PRESIDENT: (Jean)
  • Report the resignation of Miriam Altree. 
  • Please look at the RCWL Club Runner site a give your opinion.
  • We have a full schedule of speakers coming up for the first half of the year thanks to Neil’s hard work, there are a couple of dates to confirm and or fill. Please remember to work with Neil and or pass on any ideas or phone numbers of possible guest speakers. 
  • PDG David Egan coming to speak on the 2nd of August and will be joined by members of the Rotary clubs of Henley Beach and Charles Sturt Grange , His topic is  “District Regionalisation”. The club will be asked to vote on this by the end of September.
  •  Asked by the Semaphore Lifesaving club to have a representative or their awards night on Saturday July 16th.
  • Need to work on a proposal to present to Bunning’s re-BBQ’s on a Friday, we would only want one Friday per month need to find three other clubs for the other Friday’s. 
  • Idea of having a club t-shirt for those attending the Rotary Convention in Melbourne next year. Will add a page to the events folder looking for expressions of interest of members to attend the Convention.
  • Barbara has put Gary’s donated coffee table on ‘Market Place’ for sale

Gourmet Gary’s Thai Flavoured Chicken Rolls
 
Serves: 8
Prep Time: 30 min.
Cooking Time: 25 min.
 
Sheets frozen puff pastry ready rolled. Thawed & cut in halves
1 egg
Lightly beaten
500gms
Chicken mince
1 ½ cup
Fresh bread crumbs
3 tsp
Thai red curry
1 tsp
Finely grated lemon peel
1 tbsp
Lemon juice
2
Spring onions finely chopped
¼ cup
Finely chopped coriander leaves and stems
1 tbsp
Fish sauce
1 tbsp
Sweet chilli sauce
 

 

 

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 180c and flour 2 oven trays. 
2. Mix all the ingredients except for 1 egg in a large bowl and then pack into a piping bag. 
3. Lay sheets of pastry lengthwise across the bench top and brush one edge with egg. 
4. Pipe the chicken mix along centre of each piece of pastry then roll up keeping the exposed edge of pastry to the bottom. 
5. Cut each piece into 5 rolls and place on baking trays in 5 rows then brush with egg wash. 
6. Bake in oven for about 25 minutes until golden then turn out on to a wire rack. 
7. Serve hot with sweet chilli sauce as pre dinner snack.
