  • Thanks to all involved with RYDA – 188 students participated.

International & Foundation (Ken
  • Volunteers needed for DIK.  Lunch will be at the usual venue (Slug & Lettuce).
Fundraising (Gary)
  • Sold the coffee table for $950.
 
Youth (Brian Thomas) 
  • RYDA went ‘pretty well’.  28 volunteers attended with 188 students.  BBQ was a great effort. 
  • Andrew said that Ian Miller talked to students participating in RYDA – they said they learnt valuable lessons.  Andrew thanked Brian for his efforts with RYDA.
 
Programme (Neil)
  • 6th Sept. speaker is Scott Anderson who’s talk is about recruiting younger members.
  • 20th Sept. Andrew De Garis’ topic is Eradication of Polio.
  • 27th Sept. Matt Cowdrey is and State MP and former Paralympian.
  • 4th Oct. Peter Clark, Curator Monarto Safari Park.
Have confirmed Tuesday 13 December for West Lakes Shore School BBQ (in place of meeting).
 
Vocational & Environment (Alison)
  • Monarto Safari Park planting – RC Murray Bridge and RC Mobilong offered to assist with the planting and will join RC West Lakes at dinner.

Guest Speaker: Ian Hopley
 
Ian, a former long serving police officer with Victoria Police, is involved with non-profit organisation The Headstone Project SA Australia.  The Project’s aim is to locate and identify graves of WW1 veterans who’s graves are mostly unmarked.  When found, military headstones are erected.  Ian described the process involved.  The Project was founded in 2011 and since then some 700 graves have been located.  A very important project to honour our veterans.
