Past District Governor and current President of RC Prospect, Doug Layng was our Guest Speaker on Tuesday 20 August.
Doug is the Chair of Youth Options, a not-for profit agency "to support diverse young South Australians, transform their lives by developing the confidence and skills to learn, earn and live". It is about creating pathways to living a life of purpose.
Clients are referred external sources, typically by Schools, although candidates are aged in the 14-30 year age group. (~27 in SA). Approximately 300-400 per year are involved. Clients are typically living with multiple complexities causing detachment from community, education and employment.
This is achieved from home base at 40 Sturt St, Adelaide. Currently the organisation is looking at a second office, potentially in the northern suburbs of Adelaide.
