Thanks to help from Yvonne have passed along our 4 boxes of Blankets to Puddle Jumpers.
A big Thank you to all those who helped last week with the Blanket Revolution we ended up with two bags for animals one of which went to CHATS and the other to the Animal Welfare League. With 4 boxes suitable for human use.

RARE Working Bee last Saturday was another success. Donated items have been prepared for shipping. Our Service partners were able to clean and move the heavier items making our overall task manageable.
Next Saturday 16 August is “The Big day!” The container will be loaded commencing at 08:00
As this is a club project I encourage member participation, even if that is just to drop by and cheer us on.
Our Face Book views continue to grow. FB is becoming a great tool to increase public awareness of Rotary, our club and the benefits of being a Rotarian. Well done Tracey for managing this.
50th Anniversary planning underway. Ideas soon to be presented to members. We have a very limited time frame to decide and then implement appropriate projects to coincide with the 50th celebration.
The Club was saddened to learn of the death this week of one of the Clubs most valuable members – Someone Else.
Someone’s passing creates a vacancy that will be difficult to fill. Else has been with the Club since the beginning. They did far more that a normal person’s share of the work. Whenever there was a job to do, a social function to attend, funds to be raised, or a meeting to attend, one name was on everyone’s lips. ”Let Someone Else do it”.
It was common knowledge that Someone Else was among the largest contributors of their time to the Club; whenever there was a need for volunteers everyone just assumed that Someone Else would volunteer. Someone Else was a wonderful person – sometimes appearing super-human, but a person can only do so much. Were the truth known everybody expected too much of Someone Else.
Now Someone Else is gone!
We wonder what we’re going to do. Someone Eslie left a wonderful example to follow, but who is going to do the things Someone Else did?
When you are asked to help, remember – WE CAN’T DEPEND ON SOMEONE ELSE.

On Thursday Alison and her Mum took another 26 knitted/crocheted blankets to Ronald McDonald House for the sick kids that stay at their facility. The blankets were hand made by Alison, Iris (mum) & Olive (aunty)
Melissa Monkhouse was there to receive them & was happy to show us one of the 5 new rooms that were completed only yesterday – which means they now can offer approx. 140 more families somewhere to stay in Adelaide whilst their child is in hospital.
Hopefully our blankets will offer some warmth & comfort to those children too…….

Ever wondered what happens to old playgrounds when they’re replaced? We believe in giving them a second life, and thanks to our partnership with Rotary Adelaide, former PAE playgrounds are off to new adventures around the world!
Playgrounds in Australia typically have a lifespan of around 15 years due to our harsh environmental conditions. That’s why are being disassembled we donate them to Rotary volunteers, who restore and ship them overseas to communities in need.
Peter, who leads the project, says the playgrounds are always in good condition “They’re free from damage and just need a few nuts and bolts replaced."
The five nuns in the picutre installed their new playground themselves, including doing the concrete!
Thanks to this initiative, children in developing countries get access to safe, functional playgrounds that support healthy development and joyful play, often for the first time in their lives.
We’re proud to be part of this meaningful project, helping bring joy to children across the world.

The latest Australian Biodiversity Council 2025 report notes that:
· 96% of Australians believe that more action is needed to look after the natural environment, with over half (58%) agreeing that ‘a lot more’ or ‘a great deal more’ action is necessary.
· The top three most concerning biodiversity issues amongst Australians are:
increasing levels of waste and pollution in the environment;
the possible extinctions of native animals; and
the loss of natural places.
· An overwhelming 86% of Australians have expressed concern over the decline of native plants and animals in their local areas, highlighting that environmental concerns are both a local and national issue.
Where does Rotary sit?
The six pillars of Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group (ESRAG) are:
Biodiversity;
Circular Economy;
Climate;
Food Systems;
Pollution; and
Sustainable Living.
At the District 9620 Conference in April, thirteen Enviro Awards were presented in recognition of a Club's accomplishments.
Projects ranged from Community Action for Fresh Water projects, an animal hospital, community gardens, rotate (to address the circular economy), marine cleanups, tree planting, and turtle & platypus conservation.

The speaker system operates on both battery or power.
Prior to meeting, plug in the charger with the connection point being in front of the speaker box. Once fully charged (blue light), the charger can be removed (or left in place).
Three microphones are all battery operated. There are ‘some’ spare batteries in our lectern. Microphones operate on a simple On/Off and are already paired to the system.
The speaker box has a Master Volume knob as well as a Microphone Volume knob. These should not need adjustment unless circumstances have changed. Test inside meeting room.
At end of meeting please carefully check all items, and put safely back in lectern.
Liaise with the Guest Speaker Coordinator to meet and greet Guest Speaker, arrange for introduction, introduce to other members
- Arrange meal for Guest speaker, cost to the RCWL account (so that Steve can pay later on)
