Fellow Rotarians,
At the AGM, we gather not just for tradition’s sake, but to reaffirm our commitment to service and community. Our Annual General Meeting is a pivotal occasion—a time to recognize our achievements, renew our leadership, and set ambitious goals for the year ahead.
The responsibility vested in our Board and office bearers is both an honor and a vital duty. It is what binds us in the remarkable spirit of Rotary, pushing us to greater heights, year after year.
As President, I now face a key challenge: securing the leadership that will build on our Club’s strong foundation. Many of our most dedicated members have already served multiple terms as President, and we are deeply grateful for your commitment. Yet, now more than ever, our Club needs new perspectives and fresh energy to thrive.
Leading our Club works well alongside a busy career. Our streamlined processes and the collaborative spirit you’ve witnessed over the past year mean that you will never bear the responsibility alone. The support team built this year will remain active, and as Immediate Past President, I will stand alongside you, offering hands-on guidance and encouragement throughout your term.
At the AGM, every position is open, and your Club is counting on your leadership and initiative. Please make the conscious decision to step forward and serve on the Board; with your help, we can continue making a real difference, not just for ourselves, but for the broader community we support through Rotary.

Dear Fellow Rotarians,
As we celebrate the start of our Club’s 50th anniversary year, it has been truly heartening to witness our theme, “Internal Reflection: Inward reflection ignites outward transformation,” shaping our actions and inspiring renewed energy across our membership. These first months have reinforced the importance of honouring our club’s history, even as we adapt and introduce fresh initiatives.
Priorities and Achievements
Empowering Communities: Throughout the year, our emphasis has shifted from providing one-off assistance to supporting projects that foster self-reliance and equip people with practical skills for lasting benefit.
Major Project – Container for the Philippines: One standout achievement has been assembling and shipping a 20-foot container full of essential items—including educational supplies, medical equipment, and playground resources—to the Rotary Club of Plaridel Polaris. The impact on local children and families has been significant, showcasing what we can accomplish when we work together.
Building Partnerships: Early in the term, we forged a rewarding partnership with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their generous volunteers played a crucial role in helping us meet logistical challenges and achieve our biggest service project to date.
Club Foundation and Governance: This year, we took steps to update club procedures and documentation, recognising the need to preserve our operational knowledge and maintain consistency in leadership for years to come.
Member Engagement and Inclusion: We created opportunities for members to contribute ideas and shape projects, and improved accessibility at meetings with the installation of a new PA system.
Supporting Local Needs: Alongside international efforts, our club remained committed to serving the local community. Our $3,300 donation to support farmers affected by drought received positive feedback from all involved.
Looking Ahead
The achievements of these first months have set a solid foundation for a year marked by progress and meaningful service. With the continued involvement and commitment of every member, I am confident that our club will both honour its proud history and respond effectively to new challenges.
Thank you for your dedication and enthusiasm. Together, we are strengthening our Rotary family and ensuring our legacy of service continues for generations to come.
Members may be aware that the Club will be losing access to the storage room in the Wesley Social Enterprises shed at the end of this year.
Rotarian Brian MacDonald contacted Rotarian Stuart Ghent, who is also a Councillor with the City of Charles Sturt (CoCS). Stuart made contact with the City and we received an almost immediate response.
On Monday afternoon Ros, Steve and Andrew met with a CoCS representative at the Samoa Reserve to inspect a potential location. This particular storage space is currently used by RC Henley Beach and was previously shared with RC West Beach (aka Kidman Park).
We have since been in touch with RC Henley Beach to understand their use of the space. At present there is plenty of room for our BBQ trailer, and also our racking system. Work will be required to tidy up to fit the rest of our stuff.
Andrew has one set of keys and we have asked CoCS for another 2 sets. We have access to the space now and at our convenience!
Whilst Samoa Reserve is a little out of the way, it is a great alternative to our current, soon to expire, arrangements. As far as we are aware, it is cost free....
Just have to sort out a working bee to move everything, and maybe celebrate with a BBQ at the Reserve?
On Thursday 6 Nov Louie and I had the pleasure of attending a Philippines Rotary intercity meeting for Zone 2: Area 9

The MC was Linus Lacsamana with whom we have been dealing in the container project. Linus is also the incoming president for 2026-27
The District Governor Nominee was also in attendance.
The meeting was largely held in the Tagalog language but followed along traditional Rotary procedures and protocols.
It is always interesting to visit other clubs and even more so when it is in a foreign country. Of note is that the overall audience was of a younger age demographic and a larger percentage of female members than we have become accustomed to back home.
A report was presented to Council’s Strategic and Engagement Committee on Monday 17 November, to include matched funding in Council’s 26/27 budget for Midcourse Reserve.
The speaker system operates on both battery or power.
Prior to meeting, plug in the charger with the connection point being in front of the speaker box. Once fully charged (blue light), the charger can be removed (or left in place).
NOTE: Ensure that Power is plugged in to the actual Power inlet on the speaker and not the Microphone inlet
Three microphones are all battery operated. There are ‘some’ spare batteries in our lectern. Microphones operate on a simple On/Off and are already paired to the system.
The speaker box has a Master Volume knob as well as a Microphone Volume knob. These should not need adjustment unless circumstances have changed. Test inside meeting room.
At end of meeting please carefully check all items, and put safely back in lectern.
Liaise with the Guest Speaker Coordinator to meet and greet Guest Speaker, arrange for introduction, introduce to other members
