Stories
Vale PP Kevern Kendle
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our past member, Past President and Paul Harris Fellow, Kevern Kendle, who passed away on Wednesday.

Kevern was a highly respected member of the Rotary Club of West Lakes and gave many years of dedicated service to our club and the wider community.
His commitment to Rotary’s ideal of Service Above Self left a lasting legacy, and he will be fondly remembered for the positive impact he made.

Our sincere condolences are extended to Kevern’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Kevern.
Thank you for your friendship, leadership and outstanding service. You will be greatly missed.

2026-27 Changeover
Well, another one bites the dust and we have a new(ish) President!!

For those who have forgotten, or are new to the Club, this will be number 3 for Jean.

She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, and has had to navigate through changes before....

President Robin reflected on a remarkable Year of Action, highlighting the international projects, new partnerships and the recognition our Club received from The Rotary Foundation. He reminded us that one of our greatest strengths is the experience within our membership and that every achievement this year has been the result of true teamwork and collaboration.

Robin then proudly handed over to Jean, our President for 2026–2027.

Jean shared her vision to:
  • build on our strong foundations,
  • grow our plan of operations,
  • adapt to changing times,
  • foster stronger connections with other clubs, and
  • create a lasting impact when people unite and take action.
Jean is committed to bringing Rotary themes to life while ensuring the fun, friendship and joy of Rotary remain at the heart of everything we do.

A wonderful evening of celebration, gratitude and friendship.

We reflected on the past year and look forward with excitement to the year ahead.

Congratulations to Sue, Bill, Gary and Tracey, who were honoured with Paul Harris Fellow recognition for their outstanding service and dedication.

Ros was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of her exceptional service and commitment. Her contribution continues to demonstrate what it means to lead with heart, purpose and integrity.

Responsibilities

Manage
- banners (pre & post meeting)
- name tags as appropriate
- Microphone is now in the lectern
The speaker system operates on both battery or power.
Prior to meeting, plug in the charger with the connection point being in front of the speaker box. Once fully charged (blue light), the charger can be removed (or left in place).
NOTE: Ensure that Power is plugged in to the actual Power inlet on the speaker and not the Microphone inlet

Three microphones are all battery operated. There are ‘some’ spare batteries in our lectern. Microphones operate on a simple On/Off and are already paired to the system.

The speaker box has a Master Volume knob as well as a Microphone Volume knob. These should not need adjustment unless circumstances have changed. Test inside meeting room.

At end of meeting please carefully check all items, and put safely back in lectern.

Liaise with the Guest Speaker Coordinator to meet and greet Guest Speaker, arrange for introduction, introduce to other members.
- Arrange meal for Guest speaker, cost to the RCWL account (so that Steve can pay later on)

Chair meeting
- manage timeliness
- organise meal delivery

Arrange Sergeant At Arms (as appropriate)

Liaise with President to close meeting.
