ANZAC Day & Bunnings – Debrief: Last week we briefly spoke about the Bunnings ‘policy documentation’ and its potential impact on the way that we service the BBQ Community. This week we are looking forward to feedback on the ANZAC BBQ – What went well, what could be done better and, considering it is once a year only, the creation of a checklist to allow smooth running.
District Changeover Luncheon - District Governor Rajeev Kamineni will hand over the role of District Governor to Tim Mee for Rotary District 9510 for 2026-2027. You are invited.

Last week's International Toast - Peter
Last week our International Toast recognised the Rotary Club
of Casablanca in District 9010, Morocco. Chartered in 1930, the club has a proud history of Rotary service spanning almost a century and currently has 38 members. The club meets each Tuesday at 12.30pm at the Hyatt Regency Casablanca and is led by President Hassan El Basri.

Andrew and Ros caught up again with Sammy and his parents. On Friday evening, they visited a local produce market, enjoyed a delicious meal, and spent the night listening to a local jazz band. Yesterday, they were at Cinque Terre with Sam and his parents. Today Andrew and Ros will be on their way home. We look forward to hearing all about their wonderful holiday.
On the 28 April, the RCWL proudly presented the Gerard AnconeAward, celebrating excellence in vocational education and honouring the legacy of our late founding member and past president, Gerard Ancone.
This year’s award was presented to Bek Boyes, recognised as the highest performing student in Cabinet Making and Timber Technology: Certificate III (MSF30322) at TAFE SA (Tonsley campus). The award was formally presented by Cameron Baker, Chair of the South Australian Skills Commission.
In his address, Cameron highlighted the State Government’s strong commitment to addressing the growing skills shortage across key industries. He emphasised the increasing demand for skilled professionals such as engineers, cabinet makers, electricians, plumbers and construction workers. Trades are essential to meeting South Australia’s housing and infrastructure targets. Cabinet making, in particular, plays a critical role in the completion of new homes, especially in kitchens and bathrooms, where much of the current industry focus lies. We also heard how the government is working closely with TAFE to support and upskill tradespeople from overseas, many of whom go on to make meaningful contributions both here in Australia and in their home countries. There is also a strong focus on improving conditions for apprentices and trainees, recognising the challenges of lower wages and retention within the trades.
Bek’s journey into cabinet making began in 2022, inspired by a desire to upgrade a camper van for family holidays. Since then, she has demonstrated outstanding commitment and passion for her craft.
Her mentor and teacher, Kym Kelly, spoke highly of Bek’s many qualities - her dedication, reliability, respect for others and her willingness to share ideas and engage in thoughtful, constructive discussions. Bek consistently showed genuine care and pride in her work. Now, she has come full circle, taking on a mentoring role herself at TAFE to support and inspire other students in achieving their goals.
Congratulations, Bek, on this well-deserved recognition. You embody the spirit of the Gerard Ancone Award, and we look forward to seeing your continued success in the industry.

The speaker system operates on both battery or power.
Prior to meeting, plug in the charger with the connection point being in front of the speaker box. Once fully charged (blue light), the charger can be removed (or left in place).
NOTE: Ensure that Power is plugged in to the actual Power inlet on the speaker and not the Microphone inlet
Three microphones are all battery operated. There are ‘some’ spare batteries in our lectern. Microphones operate on a simple On/Off and are already paired to the system.
The speaker box has a Master Volume knob as well as a Microphone Volume knob. These should not need adjustment unless circumstances have changed. Test inside meeting room.
At end of meeting please carefully check all items, and put safely back in lectern.
Liaise with the Guest Speaker Coordinator to meet and greet Guest Speaker, arrange for introduction, introduce to other members.
