Playground relocation project
RARE/DIK container loading last Saturday. Thanks to Steve, Ros, Andrew and Robin along with two volunteers from our newly found missionary friends. Many items moved to a common area ready for container loading, and some cleaning done. The feedback from our friends is very encouraging.

I would like to encourage full attendance along with your spouse/ partner at tomorrow night’s meeting as we have a very special night planned.
Our speaker will be Rhys Standley
President - Australia Adelaide Mission
Rhys will be talking about the service work their group performs from Adelaide to Darwin.
In addition, these are the people who are helping us with our Philippines Container project, and we are also in talks with them about other activities such as the Carousel.
As an extra special event, they have offered a musical event, and I have been assured that it will be a great event.
Please bring your partners as a show of support and thanks for the relationship we are developing with this group.
New DG Rajeev has offered to attend our 50th Anniversary. He has suggested some dates that he will be free. Let’s make it happen.
Cloud storage making progress. Next step is for volunteers to take home some photo folders and identify people and places and rename those photos accordingly. Please see Robin for a USB of photos, thanks.

50 year Celebration project
Thanks to Jean for hosting a discussion on the project objectives. Alison, Andrew, Barry, Gary, Ken, Peter, Robin, Ros & Scott spent 2 hours reviewing history, celebration plans and data management.
On Thursday Alison and her Mum took another 26 knitted/crocheted blankets to Ronald McDonald House for the sick kids that stay at their facility. The blankets were hand made by Alison, Iris (mum) & Olive (aunty)
Melissa Monkhouse was there to receive them & was happy to show us one of the 5 new rooms that were completed only yesterday – which means they now can offer approx. 140 more families somewhere to stay in Adelaide whilst their child is in hospital.
Hopefully our blankets will offer some warmth & comfort to those children too…….

Ever wondered what happens to old playgrounds when they’re replaced? We believe in giving them a second life, and thanks to our partnership with Rotary Adelaide, former PAE playgrounds are off to new adventures around the world!
Playgrounds in Australia typically have a lifespan of around 15 years due to our harsh environmental conditions. That’s why are being disassembled we donate them to Rotary volunteers, who restore and ship them overseas to communities in need.
Peter, who leads the project, says the playgrounds are always in good condition “They’re free from damage and just need a few nuts and bolts replaced."
The five nuns in the picutre installed their new playground themselves, including doing the concrete!
Thanks to this initiative, children in developing countries get access to safe, functional playgrounds that support healthy development and joyful play, often for the first time in their lives.
We’re proud to be part of this meaningful project, helping bring joy to children across the world.

The latest Australian Biodiversity Council 2025 report notes that:
· 96% of Australians believe that more action is needed to look after the natural environment, with over half (58%) agreeing that ‘a lot more’ or ‘a great deal more’ action is necessary.
· The top three most concerning biodiversity issues amongst Australians are:
increasing levels of waste and pollution in the environment;
the possible extinctions of native animals; and
the loss of natural places.
· An overwhelming 86% of Australians have expressed concern over the decline of native plants and animals in their local areas, highlighting that environmental concerns are both a local and national issue.
Where does Rotary sit?
The six pillars of Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group (ESRAG) are:
Biodiversity;
Circular Economy;
Climate;
Food Systems;
Pollution; and
Sustainable Living.
At the District 9620 Conference in April, thirteen Enviro Awards were presented in recognition of a Club's accomplishments.
Projects ranged from Community Action for Fresh Water projects, an animal hospital, community gardens, rotate (to address the circular economy), marine cleanups, tree planting, and turtle & platypus conservation.
PP Jean is championing the Club's environment focus. Please see her if you have any ideas, or can assist in any way.
The speaker system operates on both battery or power.
Prior to meeting, plug in the charger with the connection point being in front of the speaker box. Once fully charged (blue light), the charger can be removed (or left in place).
Three microphones are all battery operated. There are ‘some’ spare batteries in our lectern. Microphones operate on a simple On/Off and are already paired to the system.
The speaker box has a Master Volume knob as well as a Microphone Volume knob. These should not need adjustment unless circumstances have changed. Test inside meeting room.
At end of meeting please carefully check all items, and put safely back in lectern.
Liaise with the Guest Speaker Coordinator to meet and greet Guest Speaker, arrange for introduction, introduce to other members
