Pioneer adventure - An amazing event helping the local community. Alison, Louie and I attended last Sunday to an extremely well organised community event. It was a pleasure to represent our club and wave the flag. See events screen, Stories below and our Facebook page for photos.

I wanted to give you a quick personal update on our RARE/DIK Philippines container project. Last Saturday, Treasurer Steve and I met face-to-face with the lead management team at RARE to go over the latest status. We talked through all the progress we've made, the communication channels, and the solid steps now in place to get the container released and into the hands of those who need it. It is important to note that RARE really wants the goods to go to the communities they are meant for. While the process has had unexpected delays, we're genuinely confident that everyone's pulling together with the right approach. The best news is that our District Governor has now agreed to reach out directly to the Philippines District Governor for hands-on mentoring support to our partner club there. This extra guidance will make all the difference in wrapping this up smoothly. Thank you all for your patience and support - this project is still very much on track for a great outcome, and we'll keep you posted as things move forward.
District Changeover Luncheon - District Governor Rajeev Kamineni will hand over the role of District Governor to Tim Mee for Rotary District 9510 for 2026-2027. You are invited.

Bunnings BBQ gross sales $1,363 – costs $367. Some issues arose regarding glove requirements with Bunnings which will need to be clarified and addressed for future BBQs.
$40k term deposit has just matured – interest earned $946. I spoke with John from the CCS, who said the estimated schedule for the Mid Course Reserve was around March/April 2027, so I let the term deposit roll over to January 2027.
Paid the annual Clubrunner fee USD$420 (AUD$585)
Copied ANZAC receipts to Scott to claim from the RSL. Once known, we can determine the donations to Legacy & CHATS

Very cold wet day on Sunday at the Carousel. Thanks to Susan and Kevern for doing the morning shift and I did the afternoon, but we finished early as no customers.
NRM History weekend is our next community event . We are still needing volunteers for Sunday 10 May in the railway catering car. I realise it is Mother’s Day, but we need a volunteer for the 10am-12.30pm shift as well as the 12.30-3pm. Please see Sue if you can help.

Working on procuring another lot of blankets to recycle. All will be dependent on what is available from the dry cleaner. More information to come.

I wish to thank Denis and Ros for all their hard work they put in to bring together the Gerard Ancone Award. Creating the contact with TAFE SA and the continuing liaison with them. The evening was a great success. Thank you to Tracey for creating the award certificate and all the club members who worked to make the award a reality.

Last week's International Toast - Peter
Last week's International Toast at our Gerard Ancone Award night recognised the Rotary Club of Oldenzaal in District 1560, Netherlands. Chartered in 1974, the club has 46 members and meets each Wednesday at 5:30pm at Hotel Het Landhuis. The club is led by President Rouwhorst.
We were proud to be part of the Rotary Pioneer Adventure Day, supporting farming families who have been doing it tough. With large numbers of Rotarians coming together in Tailem Bend from across the state, the spirit of service and generosity was truly on display. Robin, Alison and Louie witnessed firsthand the impact of this incredible day. Alison shared: “Almost everything was being given away to everyone! Free breast screening, health checks, skin checks, haircuts and groceries. Amazing community support for these farmers and their families. So many Rotary clubs represented – people were overwhelmed, but in a good way.” Moments like these remind us what Rotary is all about – people coming together to support others when it matters most.
Message from Andrew (Sunday 26 April): Only a week to go in Morocco. Today we leave the High Atlas Mountains heading toward Marrakech. We left the Western Sahara 3 days ago, but all still very barren. Oases are the hubs of life, but still mainly subsistence farming. Our group of 4 Kiwis, 1 Swiss and 5 Aussies are getting on well.
We no longer have access to our old website. We have a new domain name that will be managed through ClubRunner. This new domain name is slightly different to the old one. The new website address is:

The speaker system operates on both battery or power.
Prior to meeting, plug in the charger with the connection point being in front of the speaker box. Once fully charged (blue light), the charger can be removed (or left in place).
NOTE: Ensure that Power is plugged in to the actual Power inlet on the speaker and not the Microphone inlet
Three microphones are all battery operated. There are ‘some’ spare batteries in our lectern. Microphones operate on a simple On/Off and are already paired to the system.
The speaker box has a Master Volume knob as well as a Microphone Volume knob. These should not need adjustment unless circumstances have changed. Test inside meeting room.
At end of meeting please carefully check all items, and put safely back in lectern.
Liaise with the Guest Speaker Coordinator to meet and greet Guest Speaker, arrange for introduction, introduce to other members.
