We are fortunate to have a good relationship with Bunnings at Woodville. In addition to our regular "first Monday" BBQs, we also are awarded a weekend day every quarter. Even after having an extra EXTRA for our End Polio campaign in October, we fronted up on Saturday 20 December for a big day.
With a few free days under our belt after the end of year Xmas dinner, we had a good rollup to cater for each shift.
With 8 trays frozen, left over from Kids in the Lake, snagman Westy ordered another 25 trays.
It was a bit different with Paula our new Bunnings coordinator in charge. No longer are we allowed to put up the tent, or take down. There was a recent incident where one of the tents took off and hit a car in the carpark at the end of the day.
So, we finally got our gear into the tent at 0830, then had to wait for the gas bottle. But wait then another 10-15 min before we could get the BBQ lit.
Regardless, it was very busy with about 300 snags cooked by 1145!
The lunchtime shift was frantic, and more supplies of 120 snags at about 1330 enabled a clear afternoon.
All were cooked, we ended with 1 loaf of bread leftover, and sold our last 3 snags just after 1600.
All in all, 823 snags cooked for the day with 33 loaves, and about 11.5 kg cut onions.
Probably one of our best performances $ wise, with profit of over $2,600.
Well done to all, a good warm up for our next BBQ on Monday 5 January!
