2024-05 Police Officer of the year
May 2024
Dear Rotary Club President / Secretary

South Australia Police Officer of the Year 2024
The South Australia Police Officer of the Year Award has been a major annual vocational project of the Rotary Club of Unley each year since 1978.

The annual award recognises an outstanding and committed police officer who: displays high standards of professionalism; performs significant acts of courtesy, kindness, understanding or courage; or handles a complex and difficult situation with humanity. This may include significant off duty community volunteering.

SAPOL continues to serve the community with distinction and a worthy Police Officer may be known to you, your club’s members and their acquaintances.

Our search for the SA Police Officer of the Year for 2024 opens with nominations beginning on the 27st May 2024 and will close on Friday 12th July
Note that the award will also apply for years prior to 2024.

Your club’s support is sought to spread the word throughout your local area.  Nominations are received from organisations, service clubs, community groups and individuals from across the State of South Australia.  In the past we have received excellent nominations from Rotary clubs across the State.  All nominations will be considered by the Club and, following consultation with the Commissioner of Police, a recipient will be selected.

With the printable Poster attached, which publicise the event, can you forward it to your members and arrange, if possible, to have it displayed in prominent locations visible to the general public.

Details of the award and nomination form may be found on the Unley Rotary website at http://www.unleyrotary.org.au.

This award will again be presented at a public ceremony at the Royal Adelaide Show on the 6th September 2024. This venue has brought to Rotary significant media exposure through radio interviews, television, and print.  Members of your club are most welcome to at-++ tend the event.  If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

We look forward to receiving any Nominations from your communities.
Yours in Rotary,

Chris Davis

Club email addresses
Robin has set up trial new official Rotary District “Office Holder” email addresses.

The purpose includes a more consistent professional appearance when writing to external parties (asking for Council grants etc). Far better to correspond from an actual Rotary domain address than from a Yahoo or Gmail account.

Additionally, Clubs/Directors retain historical emails with a simple password handover at each year changeover.

Hopefully this will be rolled out to all District Clubs should they see the benefits of the concept.

The intention is that all Club documents will be stored in a Dropbox or similar so that photos etc are not lost as members move on.

Any ideas on this are appreciated - please provide feedback to Robin.
